Justin Ericson - PrincipalCPA, MAICD, JP (Qual)

Justin graduated from James Cook University Cairns in 2006, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree with honors. He majored in accounting and upon graduating accepted a partnership position with one of the top accounting firms in the Cairns Tablelands. Justin is a Certified Practicing Accountant with specialist knowledge in tax, corporate recovery, asset protection and finance. He has sound industry knowledge spanning property, rural enterprise, international business, charity law, indigenous corporations and corporate structuring. His proven experience also encompasses business turnaround, succession planning, corporate risk management, structuring of joint ventures and syndicated deal platforms. Justin has been in public practice for over 15 years and has developed considerable business experience. He acts for clients in various business roles that go beyond accounting, such as Virtual CFO, Chairman and/or CEO of various medium size entity’s both locally and internationally. Origin: Mareeba

Jacqui Pradal - Administration Manager

Jacqui is our Office Manager (the boss) and a valued member of our firm. Jacqui has in excess of 18 years’ experience with local accounting firms. Jacqui attends to all our company secretarial matters, registers, trust deeds, ATO compliance and registrations, lodgment programs and deadlines. In addition to these tasks, she also attends to client payroll, super streaming compliance and the general day to day support and administration of the office and our valued team. Mel Baty - AccountantJP (Qual)

Mel was raised in Cairns and has over 26 years’ experience working in an accounting office. She has had many roles including secretary, office manager and personal assistant, before studying and obtaining a Diploma in Accounting. Mel has been working as an Accountant for the past 18 years in all areas including business advisory, taxation compliance and self-managed superannuation funds. Mel prides herself on having a professional yet friendly relationship with all clients, some of whom she has worked with for the past 20 years. Mel enjoys the simple things in life which is spending time with family and friends. She loves meeting new people and being involved in the community. Origin: Cairns Local

Jacquie Courtnell - AccountantCAANZ, FCCA and JP (Qual)

Jacquie has worked in varying accounting roles both in the commercial sector and Public Practice for over 20 years. She brings a wealth of experience, impeccable attention to detail, solid experience in management reporting and statutory compliance, along with strong initiatives and personal drive to achieve the best in her performance and positive outcomes for her clients. Jacquie is very personable and engages with her clients happily, forming strong working relationships built on trust and recognised professional skills, informed and strategic advice that is comprehendible and simple to follow. Some areas of expertise include business services, management reports and projections, taxation and taxation law, tax compliance, extensive knowledge of accounting software packages, client assistance and guidance to improve their skills in order to better understand their own business. Business Valuations, FTB, GST and BAS compliance. All areas of tax compliance for Trusts, Individuals, Partnerships, Companies and Superannuation Funds. Jacquie is an integral part of our team and the general community where she participates on a number of community boards, giving guidance, mentoring and leadership by example. Rahul Reddy - AccountantCPA

Having graduated from a reputable Swiss hospitality school and working in various managerial roles in the industry for 14 years, including running his own business overseas, Rahul brings with him rich and diverse knowledge which is particularly beneficial when understanding the core needs of small and medium sized businesses. Through his years in the hospitality industry, he found a keen interest in finance and accounting and pursued that interest by completing his MPA at JCU and went on to further obtain his CPA. With 7 years’ experience as a Tax and Business Advisor, Rahul’s keen interests lie in helping small to medium businesses achieve their potential by collaborating with clients from inception, right through to operation and transition. He always finds time for his clients and simplifies complex technical tax and business jargon for them. Rahul is detail-oriented, organised and a skilled communicator. He possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well thought out decisions. Rahul is family oriented and spends his free time with his young and energetic family. Stephen Scullard - AccountantCAANZ, JP (Qual)

Stephen was born in South Africa and moved to Australia in September 2010, in this process he learned to effectively interact with many different cultural and ethical groups. In 2013 Stephen was chosen as School Captain for Redlynch State College, in which he demonstrated an inspiring aptitude to lead over his peer groups by motivating and encouraging them in their roles for the school. At the end of 2013 Stephen was given runner up for the Keith Goodwin Memorial Scholarship in business. He was accepted into James Cook University to study his Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting, which he graduated from early in the year 2017. He commenced his employment at Acumen Accounting in July 2014 and completed completed his studies to become a Chartered Accountant in 2020. In his spare time, Stephen is heavily involved in CLEAR Ministries Church where his primary involvement is in the Youth ministry, doing community work and on band. Stephen strives for client satisfaction and enjoys working with people. Origin: South African

Celine Rouelett - Administration / Bookkeeping Services

Celine is a professional and trusted member of the Acumen Administrative Team. Celine graduated from James Cook University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Business Degree Majoring in Accounting. She started working for the firm in October 2015 and attends to the ASIC business and corporate affairs at Acumen, whilst also attending the busy reception area on a share basis. Celine also deals with Jobflow, legislative tax/business requirements, individual tax returns, debtors/creditors, maintaining office policies and lodgments. Origin: Papua New Guinea

Cheryle Harman - Administration / Bookkeeping Services

Cheryle is the new member of our team, joining in Feb 2019 as Receptionist/Administration on a part time basis. Since then, Cheryle has adapted to our specific accounting and computer systems and braved the day to day challenges, becoming a valued team member. Cheryle shares the weekly workload with Celine, handling the administration duties and office procedures. Cheryle is highly proficient in customer service and all aspects of communication. She brings a wealth of administration experience with over 25 years office working in offices such as Accounting, Engineering, Mining and Banking. Origin: South Australia

Jure Biondic - Administration / Bookkeeping Services

Jure grew up in Mareeba/Dimbulah before moving to Townsville and becoming an apprentice chef in 1993. Upon graduating, he moved to New Zealand where he excelled to the level of executive chef. During his 24 years’ experience in that industry he worked in everything from organic cafes to one of the top 10 small luxury lodges in the world, where he spent 5 years providing culinary delights to many a celebrity. He has extensive experience in hospitality, excelling in kitchen management, including running his own restaurant, private catering for weddings and cocktail parties (including team America in the America Cup in New Zealand). Jure has had a change of career taking on bookkeeping. He is a qualified BAS agent and attends to client payroll, superannuation compliance, financial coding, bank feeds and reconciling accounts. Jure is a great help to the accounting staff in assisting them to processes client work in a quick and efficient manner. However, he promises to never ‘cook your books’. Jure enjoys spearfishing, camping and hanging out with family. Origin: Mareeba
